Summer Workshop - Breathe and Sing: Pranayama in the Practice Room

Breath is our teacher, our lifelong companion, and the expression of our vocal artistry.

Pranayama (yogic breath) exercises offer us the opportunity to experiment with and learn about our breath outside of singing. Playing with different ways of feeling and moving our breath can unlock new vocal coordination and colors.

This 90-minute workshop will explore:

  • Mapping and releasing your three anatomical breathing zones to expand your awareness, coordination, and choice.

  • Pranayama (yogic breath) exercises adapted specifically for singers and complimentary vocal exercises to cultivate vocal stability, agility, resonance, and freedom.

  • The relationship between breathing and the nervous system. Learn breathing techniques for energy, for calm, and for balance.

  • How to customize these routines for your unique body and voice. Develop your own Embodied Singer self-care routine!

All bodies and voices are welcome and celebrated! No experience necessary and all movements can be adapted for your comfort.

This workshop will be held on Zoom. The Zoom link and a recording will be emailed to all registered participants.
